Jack's Story: Running from God
This is to those that think they can never be forgiven.
At about 12 years of age I was in a Church service where a pastor said God was calling someone to the ministry. I knew that was me, but I had never heard an altar call before. After a long wait, no one came forward, and I didn't either.
I forgot all about this then went into the Marines, Viet Nam, and got out. I was always kind of rebellious, so not to elaborate on sin, I was involved in motorcycle gangs (we called them clubs). They do all that has been whispered and then some.
But God didn't forget. During my normal routine as a truck driver God started calling me, tugging would be a better description. My wife started praying for me, we moved to Pennsylvania. (God was getting me in a place to hear Him). I had an accident with the truck; I think I was pushed into a bridge by an unseen force (angel? I'm not sure). Anyway at that time I said, "OK God, you're right and I'm wrong, let's go on from here."
God soon started reminding me of His earlier calling. I had a few miracles happen to others through me. The other people were much the same as I was, unable to think that God would ever forgive us. Then I got a vision. I mean a real three dimension vision. I didn't even know God used visions anymore, let alone give one to a former biker.
I saw a semi-circular set of stairs, suspended in mid-air. There was a blue sky there, and a few clouds. The stairs were a dazzling white, and I saw a person on the third step, hesitating, unable to move higher. I looked at the steps and on the front plate of the 4th step was the word "anguish" and on the 5th step was the word "despair."
Looking higher I could see a person at the top, clothed in white, dazzling pure white to be more exact. I couldn't see the face, but I just knew this was Jesus. The message of this is, "There are times when you can't get beyond anguish and despair, but I want you to know that Jesus is ready and willing to help you move to a higher place."
This is just one of many events that have happened to me as a Christian. It's been a journey of about 25 years now, and it's never dull or boring. I purposely haven't elaborated on the sin of my life because I think what Jesus has done is a lot more exciting. But I did want to share with you this one thing, so that you could know that even the worst of sinners can be forgiven. Jesus can use you in ways that you would never imagine, and you certainly wouldn't be able to do on your own.
I've had the best the Devil can offer and all it did was put me in bondage--I'll never go back. Becoming a Christian set me free and now I can experience all the things God promises for my life. I look forward to learning and understanding more things about Christ every day. Our glorious God is so incredible that our lifetime will not be enough to fully understand how great and loving He really is. Take some quality time today to study the Bible and learn about God and His plan for you to succeed in life.
